APCON Named Cybersecurity Finalist in the American Technology Awards

Wilsonville, Ore., April 9, 2014 – APCON, the most comprehensive and intelligent network monitoring solution for Fortune 1000 companies and service providers, has been named a finalist for an American Technology Award (ATA) in Cybersecurity for its IntellaFlex 3288-XR intelligent network monitoring switch. Representing outstanding achievements in the United States tech sector, the ATAs are the only “Best Of” national award in the industry.

“In today’s enterprise network environment, monitoring is critical for maintaining a stable and secure data center with total network visibility,” said Richard Rauch, APCON’s president and CEO. “The industry’s response to our IntellaFlex 3288-XR network monitoring switch has been remarkable, and we’re honored to have this product recognized as a finalist in the American Technology Awards.”

APCON’s IntellaFlex 3288-XR is designed to provide total network visibility. IntellaFlex 3288-XR is a high-capacity, high availability network monitoring switch offering non-blocking connectivity of 288 10G signals for a total throughput of 2.88 Terabits per second. This latest network monitoring switch is designed to meet the challenges faced by network operations and security professionals as their enterprise data centers grow and expand beyond 10G to 40G or even 100G. APCON’s IntellaFlex offers packet aggregation, multi stage filtering, packet slicing, time stamping and deduplication.

Packet slicing with precision provides numerous security benefits. This feature can be used to remove sensitive customer data such as credit card numbers, social security numbers and account information embedded within packets destined for monitoring tools.  It can also discard packet payload information sent to intrusion detection system (IDS) tools to reduce overall data volume, increase IDS tool performance, enhance network visibility and save scarce budget resources.

Multi Stage Filtering (MSF) is APCON’s industry-unique filtering technique. MSF is managed within a graphical user interface and offers limitless flexibility in filtering rules. Providing pinpoint accuracy, APCON’s filter stack allows users to specify exactly which packets are to be delivered to each egress port on the switch, eliminating the threat of oversubscribed ports and dropped packets.

“Each year the quality of the nominations we get for the American Technology Awards improves. The amazing innovations and advancement in technology that each of the finalists represent is a true testament to the quality of our industry in this country,” said Shawn Osborne, Chairman of the TechAmerica Foundation. “We congratulate APCON on being a finalist for this prestigious award.”

TechAmerica Foundation will present the products and announce the winners at a showcase and awards ceremony on May 20 at 1776, D.C.’s premier tech startup. During the event, the Breakthrough Technology of the Year will be chosen, which will then be honored at the Technology and Government dinner in June. Each finalist is considered for the Breakthrough Technology of the Year.
