Shenick Awarded 2009 INTERNET TELEPHONY IPTV Excellence Award

Shenick Recognized for Outstanding Innovation for DOCSIS 3.0 Test and Measurement

Burlingame, CA – August 6, 2009 - Shenick Network Systems, provider of per-flow IP communication test and monitoring systems, announced that Technology Marketing Corporation (TMC®) has awarded Shenick with the 2009 IPTV Excellence Award presented by INTERNET TELEPHONY magazine.   Shenick is recognized for providing a vital service to test, measure and monitor advanced applications services, traffic flows and capabilities delivered over Data-over-Cable Service Interface Specifications (DOCSIS®) 3.0.

Cable MSO’s and network equipment manufacturers are currently using Shenick’s diversifEye™, to ensure that networks upgraded to deliver DOCSIS 3.0, can support the introduction of high-speed broadband services such as VoD and IPTV and also deliver smooth access to cable networks for thousands of users up to multiple 10 Gbps of traffic.  With diversifEye, Shenick enables MSO’s to measure, in real-time, the effectiveness of upstream channel bonding at the application layer on a per-end user, per-flow basis.  In addition, Shenick is the first company to concurrently test and measure IPv4 and IPv6 traffic on a per-flow basis for DOCSIS 3.0 and EURODOCSIS specifications. Perfecting IPv6 and IPv4 greatly expands the number of Internet addresses that cable operators can use enabling them to provide more IP-based services.

“DOCSIS 3.0 offers the market more bandwidth, higher performance and the ability to run services such as IPTV over cable. It also enables cable MSO’s to effectively manage devices that are capturing consumer interest such as portable media players, PDA’s and triple play services,” said Robert Winters, CMO, Shenick.  “But with all that promise, it’s vital to make sure than when you deliver DOCSIS 3.0 capabilities, they work effectively and give a high end-user quality of experience (QoE). We are delighted to be awarded INTERNET TELEPHONY’S IPTV Excellence Award for our work with DOCSIS 3.0.”

“Shenick’s diversifEye has made a significant impact in the IPTV marketplace particularly for its ability to concurrently test and measure IPv4 and IPv6 traffic on a per-flow basis for DOCSIS 3.0 and to measure the effectiveness of upstream channel bonding.  Providing exceptional IPTV solutions has earned Shenick acknowledgment from the editors of INTERNET TELEPHONY,” said Erik Linask, group editorial director, TMC. “They have shown advancements in their IPTV solutions while improving their clients’ business.”

“My congratulations to Shenick for earning a place on our elite list of the 2009 IPTV Excellence Award winners,” stated Rich Tehrani, CEO, TMC. “Their dedication towards improving IPTV solutions deserves recognition and I look forward to future innovations from them.”

Shenick’s diversifEye emulates and measures in real-time, individual clients; static, dynamic host configuration protocol (DHCP) or point-to-point protocol over Ethernet (PPPoE) enabled, with each running real IPv4 or IPv6 voice, video and application data flows including upstream and downstream channel bonding tests.  diversifEye helps test cable modem (CM) and Cable Modem Termination Systems (CMTS)  using per-flow emulation, analysis and real-time measurement capabilities including:

·    P2P detection and mitigation/Deep packet inspection (DPI)
 and application awareness.

·    Bi-directional, high throughput stateful data tests.

·    Upstream and downstream channel bonding tests.

·    Multiple service flows per cable modem.

·    Service flows mapped to different class of service parameters.

·    Measure QoS boundaries for defined classes.

·    IPv4 and IPv6 flows, with large volumes of DHCP traffic.

·    Multicast - IGMP Request flooding.

·    TCP Flooding – SYN flood, RESET flood etc.

The Second Annual IPTV Excellence Award winners will be featured in the September 2009 issue of INTERNET TELEPHONY. For more information about Shenick’s DOCSIS 3.0 testing capabilities visit: http://diversifeye.shenick.com/
