CANopen Device Monitor
CANopen Device Monitor
The CANopen Device Monitor (CDM) is a powerful yet cost-effective software tool for easy configuration of one or more CANopen devices. It enables the direct access to the object directory of connected nodes and provides NMT and LSS functionality.
Description
The CANopen Device Monitor can read out and configure the object directory, even if there is no EDS available for the respective device. Quick and convenient access to the entire device functionality provided by a representation of the object directory in a concise tree structure.
The CANopen Device Monitor software is capable of storing and reading a device configuration in so called DCF (Device Configuration File). Configuration of CANopen devices from existing DCF files is also possible. An automatic network scan detects all reachable CANopen nodes quickly.
The CDM has a built-in script language. Using the script language user-specific extensions can be easily created. Therefore the CDM comes with a corresponding high-level API. Using the imbedded control panels, you get direct access to CDM functionality and to all implemented CANopen services.
The CDM is the ideal tool, especially for CANopen device development and service. You benefit from significantly reduced development times thanks to automated test procedures that now become possible. Using device-specific interfaces for configuration, the CDM provides you with an all-round service tool for CANopen devices.
Corresponding demo projects are included in the delivery package. You can find a demo-version of the CDM on our web site. A plug-in is offered for configuration of Safety Relevant Data Objects (SRDO).
Add-ons
CiA 402 plug-in
This plug-in extends the CANopen Device Monitor with dialogs to control the state machine of a CANopen drive and features for testing the profile position mode. The status and control words are displayed bit by bit for detailed analysis. There is a separate tabsheet providing access to the state machine of a CANopen drive according to CiA 402. State changes can be triggered by mouse clicks instead of doing bit-wise modifications on object 0x6040 in the Object Dictionary. The status word can be polled cyclically by SDO or is updated upon reception of the respective PDO. The Profile Position Mode module (part of the CiA 402 plug-in) allows for the configuration of parameters like acceleration, velocity, deceleration as well as target position. The motion status of the drive is displayed graphically and push-buttons for "Stop" or "Halt" are there to test the implementation.
CiA 304 Safety plug-in
This plug-in provides a tabsheet for the CANopen Device Monitor for consistent configuration of CiA 304 compliant Safety Relevant Data Objects (SRDO).
LSS plug-in
This plug-in enables the CANopen Device Monitor to act as a LSS master and provides functions to remotely configure the bit rate and node-ID of LSS slave devices.
