Spectrum Digital, Inc. designs, develops and markets design tools for digital signal processors (DSPs) and high performance microcontrollers. These products include scan path emulators, debuggers, evaluation modules, and application specific hardware. The company targets high growth, large volume markets requiring specialised technology to develop end applications. Spectrum Digital, Inc. is a Texas corporation with its headquarters located in Stafford, Texas, a suburb of Houston.
SDI does approximately 80% of its manufacturing in-house. This allows SDI to be competitive on pricing in addition to being able to better control quality and inventory. The in house manufacturing further allows SDI to be more responsive to customer's scheduling requirements.
Products and Applications:
Scan Path Emulators
SDI develops portable scan path emulators for the TI DSPs, OMAP, DaVinci™, and TMS470 ARM microcontrollers. The portability of these emulators allows engineers and programmers to take their development to the application environment by using laptop or notebook computers. These emulators eliminate the need for an adapter card in a PC chassis.
The company also develops Evaluation Modules, DSP Starter Kits (DSKs), and eZdsp™s for the popular TI DSPs, OMAP, DaVinci™, and TMS470 ARM. These targets are standalone circuit boards with expansion capability that allow engineers to evaluate hardware and software prior to developing their own product. This quick start up mechanism lets the customer get his product to market earlier by reducing engineering time.
