Tracealyzer v3.3 fully supports Amazon FreeRTOS

Amazon Web Services launched their own RTOS yesterday, as part of a major improvement of its IoT offerings.

We’re happy to announce that Tracealyzer version 3.3, which we released yesterday, fully supports Amazon FreeRTOS, the new IoT microcontroller operating system from Amazon Web Services (AWS). AWS and Percepio have collaborated to provide Tracealyzer support for Amazon FreeRTOS right at launch.

Amazon scaling Internet of Things

Amazon FreeRTOS, launched yesterday at AWS re:Invent 2017 in Las Vegas, is based on the FreeRTOS kernel and like its predecessor freely available for download and use. It provides the tools you need to quickly and easily deploy a microcontroller-based connected device and develop an IoT application without having to worry about the complexity of scaling across millions of devices.

Tracealyzer has been the premier analysis tool for developers of FreeRTOS-based applications since 2012. With support for Amazon FreeRTOS and our collaboration with AWS, we can bring runtime visualization to a wider group of AWS Internet-of-Things embedded developers.

“Runtime visualization is a powerful tool for the embedded developer. Tracealyzer’s support for Amazon FreeRTOS gives embedded and IoT developers enhanced insight into how their applications are executing” said Barry Russell, General Manager of Worldwide Business Development, AWS Marketplace and Service Catalog, Amazon Web Services, Inc. “This is valuable information, helping them achieve new innovations for their IoT devices to market faster and with fewer bugs.”

FreeRTOS still available

The basic FreeRTOS, without AWS extensions, is still available from Amazon. In fact, FreeRTOS version 10 was also launched yesterday. AWS has changed the open source license from the previous modified GPL to a MIT license that it says is easier to deal with for enterprise developers.
