HCC Embedded - SD-Card Data Integrity Demonstration

HCC and Swissbit Demonstrate High Level of SD-Card Data Integrity

New York, Feb 25th, 2013 – Swissbit and HCC Embedded today announced that they will demonstrate a completely robust, fail-safe embedded storage system at the Embedded World 2013 show in Nürnberg. The system is based on a combination of Swissbit’s Industrial SD Card and HCC’s SafeFAT fail-safe file system.

In order to achieve a truly fail-safe storage system, the behavior and requirements of all layers of the system must be properly defined. The demonstration will use Swissbit’s S-200 Industrial SD Card, with intelligent power-fail protection and recovery, in conjunction with HCC’s fail-safe SafeFAT file system. Using SafeFAT with the S-200 it is possible to create a completely reliable FAT based file system that will always recover from unexpected events. Interruption of power or communications will never result in a loss of data or, worse, a damaged file system.

There will be a live demonstration of two systems running side by side - the fail-safe system running next to a freeware file system using a standard SD card. Both systems will be subject to failure injections and any file system problems experienced are displayed on a monitor. Visitors will be able to evaluate the risks involved in using poorly defined software and hardware and will learn how using a fail-safe system can provide more reliability and improves the quality of their applications.

David Brook, Director of Marketing at HCC said “HCC is very excited to see Swissbit produce such reliable and well defined flash devices. A large part of the embedded market will benefit hugely from this kind of cooperation between suppliers “

Gaetano Perrella of Swissbit said “HCC’s SafeFAT fail-safe file system together with our inherently robust S-200 Series SD Memory Card is a perfect pairing. The combined result is a step increase in the data integrity of the application."

Visitors can see the demonstration on HCC’s booth in Hall4 booth 204 or Swissbit’s booth in Hall 1 booth 524.
